Jonathan Ribera was raised in a military family. Traveling around the world wasn’t as recreational as it may have been for other families but he was exposed to different cultures, countries, and creatures.
Holding on to the love of drawing as one of the simple consistencies of the ongoing change, Jonathan fell in love with art and the ability to see and show the world in his own way. He pursued art through his education, exploring animation, murals, fine art, and illustration. He graduated with a BFA from Utah State University.
After teaching art for 14 years, sprinkled with freelance murals, and commissions, he decided to go back to what originally brought him peace...making art.
With influences such as Van Gogh, Dali, and Gauguin, his art wants to translate the energy of water and its creatures through vivid colors and abstraction. A visual voice discovered at the juxtaposition between reality and abstraction, Jonathan explores the relationship of our surrounding world blended with his imagination. He connects with the fluidity throughout nature whether it be water or solid matter like rock and metal.
Jonathan has the best wife and four amazing boys who keep him young and always inspired to go on new adventures. His Ohana is his love and his art is his sanctuary.
